Finally, a complete reconstruction was commissioned by the late King Faisal ibn Abdul Aziz, modeled after the Prophet's Mosque in Al Medina. In 1950 Tabuk had 12,000 inhabitants. It was originally built of clay and covered with palm trunks. During his expedition to Tabuk, Muhammad is said to have camped at the stream for over ten days and drank from its water.
