6 million in 2019, Riyadh is the most populous city in Saudi Arabia, the third most populous city in the Middle East, and the 38th most populous city in Asia. Highway 65, known to locals as King Fahd Road, passes through several of these important city centers including King Abdullah Financial District, one of the largest financial districts in the world, Faisaliyah Center and Kingdom Center. Along with the four agencies that form the core of Saudi Arabia's legal system, the headquarters of other large and small government agencies are also located in Riyadh. Riyadh is one of the fastest growing cities in the world and home to many expats.
Riyadh is also of great economic importance, as it is home to many major banks and corporations, such as the Saudi National Bank (SNB), Al-Rajhi Bank, SABIC, Almarai, STC and Samba Financial Group. The presence of several computer giants, MNC, has turned the city into a technology hub. As of July 2020 Faisal bin Abdulaziz bin Mohammed bin Ayyaf Al Muqrin is the mayor.
Riyadh is the capital and most populous city of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Al-Bataa, the center of the city, and Al-Dira are also the oldest districts. 'ha, Al-Khair, Al-Rauda and Al-Shimal ("North").
