The city has 114 foreign embassies, most of which are located in the diplomatic district west of the city. The Kingdom Centre, Al Faisalia Street and Al Tahliya Street are the most important landmarks in the area. Al-Bataa, the center of the city, and Al-Dira are also the oldest districts. It is located on a vast plateau in the middle of the peninsula and has a population of over 6 million.

Riyadh is the capital and most populous city of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It is the largest city on the Arabian Peninsula, located in the heart of the An Nafud Desert, east of the Najd Plateau. Deham built a wall around the city, and the best-known origin of the name Riyadh is from this time, which is thought to refer to a pre-wall oasis city built by Ibn Dawwas. Riyadh is also of great economic importance, as it is home to many major banks and corporations, such as the Saudi National Bank (SNB), Al-Rajhi Bank, SABIC, Almarai, STC and Samba Financial Group. Highway 65, known to locals as King Fahd Road, passes through several of these important city centers including King Abdullah Financial District, one of the largest financial districts in the world, Faisaliyah Center and Kingdom Center. Few cities in the world are changing as rapidly as Riyadh.
